The ACE3600 is fully compatible with the MOSCAD and MOSCAD-L units with regards to programming and communication.MOSCAD (MOtorola SCADA) product family combines the power of an intelligent PLC with the flexibility of RTU communication capabilities.

Motorola MOSCAD is the first RTU in the market supporting OSI 7 layers communication protocol recommendations. Extended communication capabilities enable support of multiple media on single CPU while supporting any network topology. This product found to be extremely reliable working for more than 20 years 7/24/365 continuously.A real-time clock chip is located on the CPU module and provides year (including leap year), month, day, date, hour, minute, second, and milliseconds support to the application.

AUTHENTICATED COMMUNICATION LINKS
Like MOSCAD, the Motorola MOSCAD-L RTU is a universal device that may serve as an RTU or a PLC. It isplaced at the system’s field sites to collect data from on-site sensors, add data from off-site sources, and usethis data aggregate to make decisions regarding how some process is operating. The RTU may make changesto the local process; messages may be initiated that send data to MOSCAD or MOSCAD-L RTUs located elsewhereto influence the operation of offsiteequipment or to advise the SCADAManager of some important change.

The RTU consists of a unique plasticenclosure that contains the module rack,battery, power transformer, and communicationsdevice (typically a two-way radioalthough the radio may be replaced with awireline modem when that communicationmedium is desired.) The enclosureand module rack are integrated into an inseparablesingle entity; the module rackcontains the power supply/charger module,the CPU module, and up to three Input/Output modules. The radio, whenpresent, is attached to the door of the enclosurevia a mounting plate. The enclosuretherefore unifies and protects allcomponents of the MOSCAD-L RTU.

MOSCAD-L
Motorola MOSCAD-L is noticeably smaller than the equivalent full size MOSCAD and limited to 3 I/O modules. The available enclosure meets the requirements of NEMA-4X for use indoors or outdoors in mild corrosive environments. MOSCAD-L may be easily installed in space restricted locations. Mounting options are available for wall-or pole-mount situations, and MOSCAD-L is small enough to fit with other equipment in many enclosures provided by others.

The commonly used I/O capabilities of MOSCAD, including RS-232 and RS-485, are available with MOSCAD-L. Advanced technology is used to provide these capabilities at lower operating power requirements. When the situation requires advanced performance at low power burdens, MOSCAD-L may be the solution. Solar or LP powered sites may particularly benefit from this capability.

EXTREME ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
16/32-bit CMOS processor, RAM and Flash memory, plus the interfaces to the I/O and communication aspectsof the RTU; time functions are supported by a software clock in the operating system. The CPU moduleplugs into the module rack immediately adjacent to the power supply module. The CPU module may be programmedby ladder-logic, using the MOSCAD-L Programming ToolBox, to provide it with the capabilitiesexpected of a PLC.

●Port 1 provides either RS-485 (2-wire multidrop) or a RS-232communication toCPUmodules in otherMOSCADorMOSCAD-L RTUsor to Programming ToolBox.
●Port 2 provides a full RS-232 communications in several protocols or to Programming ToolBox
●Port 3 is normally the communication port and contains a plug-in communicationinterface appropriate to the media used.
