MOSCAD-M
MOSCAD-M
The MOSCAD-M RTU is a member of the MOSCAD product family based on Motorola 68VZ328 (16/32 bit) CMOS processor, 33MHz clock and it’s the most smallest and inexpensive RTU till ACE1000 replacement was launched in 2015. MOSCAD-M is a compact programmable wireless RTU with powerful Power Management capabilities for low power applications. As other MOSCAD members, MOSCAD-M is programmed with MicroTech compiler and MOSCAD-M ‘C’ Toolkit for custom application programming.
MOSCAD-M utilizes the 7 layer MDLC protocol to communicate therefore it can communicate with all Motorola RTU and FEPS such as ACE3600, ACE1000, ACE4600 and legacy MOSCAD, MOSCAD-L and IP-GW. MOSCAD-M includes RAM data & Clock/Calendar retention during power loss. It’s offered in basic and expanded I/O configurations, Includes two serial ports option for a two-way radio, External wire-line modem/radio may be connected to the RTU. It can interface to smart sensors using the RS232/485 ports.
POWER MANAGEMENT FEATURES
MOSCAD-M Power ManagementLow power consumption is achieved by utilizingPower Save mode. In this mode, power is providedonly to the circuits and elements activated by theapplication program. The RTU is switched to sleepmode when all circuits are idle and awakens when anypredefined event occurs. The unique Power Management capability of MOSCAD-M is an essential feature for battery and/orsolar panel-powered remote sites.
Application programs are specifically tailored to satisfyapplication requirements. The programs are written instandard ‘C’ language and are supported by theMOSCAD ‘C’ Programming Toolkit which simplifies theprogram implementation. Therefore MOSCAD-M RTU satisfies a wide range of remote monitoring, control, and data transfer applications. Its especialy suitable for radio communication based SCADA system where low power consumption i.e. solar amd battery power is essential.
INTELLIGENT COMMUNICATIONS
Each RTU in the MOSCAD family may act as a network node, allowing seamless integration of differentcommunication media into the system. A superior cost effective feature of MOSCAD familyRTUs is the ability of each RTU to act also as a Storeand Forward (S&F) repeater, extending the geographicalcoverage of a system in minimal costs.Motorola offers a cost effective and versatile system solution where any site in a system may utilize MOSCAD, MOSCAD-L or MOSCAD-M to satisfy specific I/O requirements.
The MDLC communications protocol maximizes theairtime efficiency and assures high reliability of datacommunication in noisy environments. The communications versatility of MOSCAD systemsallows integration of solutions in which the MOSCAD-Mmay serve as an intelligent remote I/O or as an intelligent data concentrator.MOSCAD-M supports also industry standard protocols such as MODBUS, DNP3.0 and IEC 60870-5-101.
The MOSCAD-M RTU like all other Motorola RTUs ultimately combines the important functionalities of low cost PLC and RTU with power management capabilities in single unit.
